Birds Hill Ranch – Victor Friesen

Here we have on offer another of Victor Friesen’s fresh Manitoban scenes in watercolour.

Many of our customers will be very familiar with Birds Hill as home of the Winnipeg Folk Festival, but perhaps not as one of its earlier incarnations: a ranch! The area now known as Birds Hill was part of a 3000 acre land grant by the Hudson’s Bay Company to a retiring Chief Factor, James Curtis Bird, in 1824. The park is actually named after this man’s son, and came into being in 1967.

You can learn more about Victor Friesen on the post for another of his paintings we listed, here.

Birds Hill Ranch, watercolour by Victor Friesen. Approx 16×20 inches with acid-free double mat in original wood frame. SOLD!
