Inspired by the Robert A. Heinlein novel, Space Cadet, the novels were based on an early TV series, and had a very short life-span of only four years (1952-6), during which 8 volumes were published. The hero also appeared in a comic strip and in a series of radio plays through the late 1940s and 1950s.
Back in the early 1950s, space cadets were cool. In my day, the term referred more to kids who just didn’t seem to have a grip on reality. Funny how things change… But I bet all my friends who were into Science Fiction knew who Tom Corbett was, even if they were a generation beyond his publication date! Tom Corbett has always had a cult following.
The books are enjoyed a small revival when they were republished in 2016. Our two volumes on offer here, are the original editions (we’ll add others here as they come available). Suitable for readers aged 10-14, they make a great introduction to the genre!
