After Teaching – Tim Tait

We have a number of Tim Tait’s original paintings in stock, from full stretched canvasses to ones like this one, done on plain artists’ canvas or art paper. From time to time we’ll show you one here in the Window Shop. You can learn more about the artist on his Artist Profile page.

This particular painting depicts four bears, one of the clans of the Anishinaabe. Unlike others of his paintings, this one has no story written on it. The three lower bears are cubs who have just had a lesson from their elder. The teachings of the people unify them and are also a part of how they identify themselves culturally to the rest of the world. The three outlying circles represent body, mind, and spirit.
