The Anishinaabe or Ojibway world is an animated one – everything in it is regarded as having life, though not necessarily in the same sense as humans and animals do. Much of this comes out in their traditional paintings. Often it is the spiritual that dominates the picture. In this case, though, I just feel the rush of air in the wings of the geese, and their determination to arrive at their destination. This painting reminds me of the fall with its intensely cerulean blue skies, and I think of the geese heading south for the winter.
