Bearers of Wisdom?

I’m always on the lookout for heavy bookends for my bookshelves. These two onyx owls, probably hand carved in Mexico, grabbed my attention right away. Onyx always looks wonderful on wood and next to books, and it is, even in a smaller sized bookend such as these are, quite heavy enough to keep a full shelf of books standing upright. I kind of like the idea of those wise little owls soaking in a bit more knowledge by osmosis, too!
